How are credits earns?
LEED evaluates the level of green building achievement by looking at six key areas of performance. Credits are earned for satisfying specific building criteria within these key areas including:
- Sustainable Sites
- Water Efficiency
- Energy & atmosphere
- Materials & resources
- Indoor environmental quality
- Innovation in upgrades, operations & maintenance
At Martins Maintenance it is our goal to provide our customers with a clean and safe facility. In an effort to effectively maximize the overall health and well being of building stakeholders without adversely effecting the building finishes, systems or the environment; Martins Maintenance has established a high performance cleaning program which addresses the following.
- Staffing - We use APPA Standards to ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet the guidelines and levels of service required as outlined in the specifications provided by the building owners/managers.
- Train all managers and staff in the areas of proper use and hazards, operation of dispensing equipment, and proper disposal and/or recycling of any chemicals, containers and packaging.
- Wherever possible we use a chemical dispensing system to minimize chemical use and to make sure all cleaning compounds are used at proper dilution. This also ensures that building surfaces are not harmed by improperly mixed chemicals, thus prolonging their life cycle, and prevents employee contact with concentrated chemicals.
- Utilize sustainable cleaning products and materials including but not limited to: Microfiber mops, tools, and wipes that have a longer life cycle and effectively removes soils and bacteria from surfaces than conventional methods. Paper products and hand soap that meet Green Seal or Environment Choice standards. Trash liners which are correctly sized for the containers, minimizing waste. Cleaning compounds which meet Green Seal or Environment Choice standards and if no current standard exist meet the California Code of Regulations for VOC levels.
- Use cleaning equipment which meets LEED standards.
